B18B swap into 1998 DX.
Is there any sort of swap guide or a parts needed list? I want to gather info on how to do this, as well as what I'll need to see if I can afford it. I want to do it RIGHT and have everything work correctly and smoothly.
Can anyone steer me towards some extremely useful information. All I've done the last two days is try and search for stuff like this, but nothing useful shows up. Just a bunch of random people asking the same thing I am, and then everyone says "Search".
Well I have..and um, where's the beef?
help!

Requires engine, trans, ECU, OBD2 to OBD1 wiring jumper harness, axles, half shaft, shift linkage and 99-00 Civic SI rear engine mount.

How hard is installation/wiring ect? </TD></TR></TABLE>
yes you can and will be a straight swap. everything will hook up. you can even use your current ecu, but using the ls ecu would be better.
just make sure you get the rear mount bracket from a integra or 00 si and you will need to swap out the 2 bolt mounting bracket from your SOHC on to the B18B if you want to continue to use the current driver (left) mount.
hope this helps, more for a 5th gen civic, but the 6th gen is similar.

Hmm, so everything electrical is plug and play?
Such as speedometer and all of that wonderful stuff.
As stated before, I want this done right. I will be doing it myself, and cash isn't exactly a problem. So long as I can do it for about 3k.
I just don't want too many surprises to crop up -- I think planning is key.

the speedometer has nothing to do with the swap.
as for the motor, yes it is a plug n play.
just remember what i said about the mounts.
and 3K, that's not bad. i will suggest replacing the water pump, tensioner, and timing belt before throwing in the motor. if all possible (due to your budget), replace the clutch and all that good stuff too. these things are 10x easier when the motor is out.

Wow, I didn't realize wiring was plug and play if it was OBD2 and the stock engine was OBD2 as well.
Most swap kits come with B-series mounts. I assume this is including the rear one as well.

its pretty easy actually you use the d-series tranny mount, a civic si drivers side block mount you'll need it in order to use the d-series rubber mount, and the civic si rear tranny mount. The b-series uses bigger coolant hoses then the civic's rad though. i used a rad out of an 00 si and they matched right up. i swapped a 94 b18b in my 98 ek and it was not plug and play. i needed a 98 teg distributer, alt, obd2a-obd1 jumber harness to run the p75 ecu and i had to hack the obd2 injector clips off and solder on the obd1 clips, did the same for the IAT sensor and purge valve also had to do the 3 wire to 2 wire IACV conversion. wish the engine wouldve been obd2 then i would have been done alot sooner.
I jst dropped a b18c1 in my 99 hatch cx. .. All u need in motor, tranny, shift linkage, axles, ecu, rear si bracket mount, I used a 00 civic si harness its plug n play pretty much. gsr fuel pump and throttle cable. and maybe upgrade ur radiator.
I was reading a few posts down about the power steering problem with B18's in EK's.
Little things like this bother me, I don't want a whole ton of surprises like this where I have to order parts with my engine laying out.
Luckily for me I'll be deleting powersteering while the engine is out (or possibly before, depending if I can find a time to do it during fall break or not).
Does anyone know of a reputable place to purchase an engine? A good honest source?
