I was trying to use the old fashion domestic way of checking for a limited slip on an integra that supposedly had one. I lifted the drive wheels off of the ground and put the vehicle in neutral and turned the driver side wheel as i watched the other side to see which way the passenger side wheel spun. Both wheels spun in the same direction at the same time so if i am correct, the tranny does have a limited slip diff. Any opinions on whether this would be accurate?
Well there pretty much the same, LSD is where the differential senses one wheel slipping and sends all the power to the other wheel
open is when the diff sends the power to the wheel with the least ammount of traqction
open is when the diff sends the power to the wheel with the least ammount of traqction

You misunderstood the question. I know what a limited slip diff. is......i jacked the vehicle off of the ground so i could rotate the wheels and see if they moved in sync with one another (while i spun the driver wheel BY HAND). On rear wheel drive differentials this can be done the same way but i am not sure whether this is an accurate test for front wheel drive vehicles. I also jacked my stock 97 dx in the air and the wheels spun opposite directions while in first gear and in neutral, the passenger wheel didnt move when i spun the driver wheel. On the integra the wheels spun together in neutral. This leads me to believe that obviously i already know my civic has an open diff., and i am assuming the integra has limited slip. Any other opinions?

Also, i dont understand how they can be almost the same. They are completely opposite. LSD send almost equal power to both wheels at all times. Sounds like you are thinking of traction control vehicles.

My civic wheels spun opposite until i installed an LSD, now they both spin the same direction. Same deal with my old LSD NX2000.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Thank you! I figured it was correct but just wasn't positive. Thanks for the response though....now i can switch trannys knowing it will be worth it!
