open door....light comes on ..... beep, beep, beep?
Don't know what the technical name for this common occurance is but when I open my drivers side door, my dome light does not come on. Also, I notice in 95 preludes a sound goes beep beep when the door is open and the keys in ignition?
Is this true in 92 SI?
Biggest question is...where is the part that initiates this sequence...because I want to fix it

There's a sensor on both doors. It's like a push lever, when the door closes it gets pushed back, and when it's open the spring pushing it out.
Look, it's not that hard to find..
Just a screw or two, take it off, carefully take it apart, and clean the metal inside with a wire brush or sharp tool..
My passenger side one didn't work because it was old and corrosive, so it wasn't getting a good connection.

For that part # it doesnt have a line to show where its at in the car but if i were to guess....
its not near the hinge, its near where the open part of the door connects. not in the door, but in the rear fender area right near where the door swings too? k.
so...will a 92 SI make a beeping noise when doors open and keys in? I have never heard it before and im kind of excited...

That happens with overused ign switches over time. Stop driving so much
You definitely have a bad door sensor, honda4life is right.

nono, i didnt say you were wrong about the part. what im saying, is that in that picture it doesnt show where the part is located in the car.
Because i want to try and fix it before i replace it.
most of the other parts in the illustration have lines to show where they are; that one doesn't.

The part is located in the door jam. Open your door and you'll see it near the latch. If you're referring to the beeping/chime when the keys are in the ignition while the car is off and the door is open, 92 Si has that. My 94 S never chimed and neither did my ex's 94 S.
If the S model didn't come with that feature I'd be surprised, it seems like such a simple thing, why would Honda leave that out?
Anyways, I bet all that switch does is ground a single wire that runs to it. Try taking it off and cleaning it well, and check the wire/connector
