Default Chicago Cage fab/install and some Q's

Gonna do a cage in my GTI in the coming months anyone have any recommendations on shops in the chicago land area. As of right now im looking for someone to weld in a prefabbed 10point chromoly from S&W, but depending on cost would also entertain having someone do the entire job start to finish.

Also whats the weight difference between mild and moly? Im new to this department so i dont know all the facts just yet

Thanks for any help

Tommy

We can do it for you, we did a 10 point camaro not to long ago. We don't bend them though, just weld them in place.

Mild steel can be mig welded, and pass nhra tech. Chromoly can't, it has to be tig welded. And besides that, of course the strength of the metals.

Back in the day when I was not comfortable welding in cages we turned down the work, this was about two years ago. I take cage safety very seriously.

Cool like i said when you get a chance shoot me an estimate id obviously bring you the car fully gutted so youd only have to worry about the cage. Also does anyone know if the s&w will cert for nhra and if so how/where would i need to take it to have it certified.
