a few questions about c/f hoods...
alright Im looking into getting sum c/f products to help reduce the weight of my car... but my question is... are they really safe and reliable... like for instance the vis carbon fiber hoods... they come with a hood latch but they said the recomment hood pins and is for off road use only... Im jus curious if they might fly off if you dont have hood pins?? and or crack or buckle under high speeds??
Im jus looking for opinions of ppl who've had or have c/f hoods... none of my friends have ne.

well I've looked into a little but I just didnt see why we needed hood pins if it had a hood latch.. do you need the hood latch then if you had hood pins?? or are both needed for saftey reasons??? I would research more but I didnt really think there was that much to know about a hood but I guess Im wrong... lol
hood pins prevent the hood latch from snapping and flying up and crushing your windshield/roof.
it's a lightened hood, so wind gets up underneath it and wobbles it until it flies up.
$100 for locking hoodpins OR
hood
windshield
roof damage
there's quite a few pictures floating around where people have had it happen

so your hood stays on jus with the hood latch??? thas what I thought but vis recommends that you get hood pins... I jus dont want it to fly up and smash my windshield in the 1/4 mile. cause a broken windsheild wouldnt be fun to fix.
