Revving problem

Default Revving problem

I have a 89 CRX Si with a D16y8 mini me swap. but i have a problem it will only let the engine Rev. up to 3500 RPM. If anyone could give me some info it would be great. Thanks

Do you have a CEL? Maybe the ECU is in limp mode (won't let the engine rev past a certain point to protect the engine from detonation)?

Yes, that is limp mode.

OP, you have a CEL (or several) that need to be cleared up. You will need to count the number of times the ECU light blinks (long blink=10, short blink=1), then use the link below to determine what the problem is.

I strongly suspect you have a problem with the tdc sensor on the distributor. Their are several possibilities, but the most likely is that it's wired up incorrectly.

Following that, it could be either the distributor, or it could be the ecu, with the most weight going to the distributor.
