I have a 91 crx si with a jdm b16a and the vtec isnt working!!!! Check engine light comes on when you go to 5000 rpm and above, and will stay on until you shut the car off then when you restart the car no check engine light until you go above 5000 rpm.its a pr3 ecu and its a code 21, which is the vtec solenoid, but I just replaced the solenoid, I have no idea. Where should I put the ground for the vtec solenoid, I have it where the tranmission ground is. Everything else is wired right. vtec solenoid=a8 c8= 2nd o2 sensor b5= pressure switch b19=knock sensor. Someone please help!!!!

 

i ran two wires back to the ecu plugs one went to A8 for the VTEC solenoind. the other one went to a black wire running to the ecu plugs which is a ground. If your VTEC solenoid isnt grounded properly then it wont work.

 

There's seriously hundreds of "my vtec doesn't work" threads on here, do a search and see what you come up with, then come back to us.

Yes the speedometer is hooked up. Everything is working on the car except vtec.

 

I have another question. I bought a rywire vtec subharness and I hooked everything up and I grounded it where the tranmission ground is. Is that ground suppose to be somewhere else or what? Isn't the vtec solenoid grounded by the engine? Is the ground wire coming from the vtec subharness a case ground or signal ground? If its a signal ground where is it suppose to be grounded at? Thanks for any help that is provided.
