Default What is a Code 48?

Just bought a '92 VX HB and it thru an engine code this morning. It was 4 long lights, pause, 8 short lights. I assume this is a 48. Can anyone tell me what that is as I don't have a manual yet. Thanks.

Unfortunatly, I think that you are going to have to replace your O2 sensor.....which happens to be a fricken wideband O2 (expensive kind).

<FONT COLOR="red">CORRECTION!!!!!</FONT> I am usure which is the primary and the seconardy O2 the Lean air made me assume it was the Seconardy O2. I am not positive which O2 Sensor it is!!!

The plus side is you can hook an Air/Fuel guage up to it.

Call a honda dealership and ask them how much it will cost to fix, get a printed quote, then just buy the parts at http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com and do it yourself.

EDIT: Ask them how much it will cost to fix an Code 48.

Someone in the Tech forum thought it was the primary O2 going bad. A friend works at Acura, so I'll give him a call. Thanks for all the help.

there should only be one 02 sensor on a '92 assuming the it's a stock D15.

The problem you're going to have is removing the sensor from the manifold. When I put my header on, I could not get it out. I still have a D16Z6 exhaust manifold with the sensor in it. I'm not sure if it will fit a D15, but if it does, I'll sell it to you complete. Thing's heavy though, could be pricey to ship.

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't the VX have two o2 sensors for the management of the VTEC-E?
Along with the EGR system.

To be honest, I'm not sure. I've never looked at a VX motor.
