The roof is welded on and you would need to drill out all the factory welds both on your car and the donor car.

the welds are hidden by the rain guard things.
does a good job of hiding the damage.

Spot welded, if you look around you will see threads of people putting sun roofs in. Its not an easy task.

anything dealing with drilling out spot weld is not easy. IMO, the op should just leave the roof alone. it's not worth the trouble.

there are drill bits that you can purchase at..... sears i think???...... that will do a better job of removing the spot welds, leaving more metal to weld to.

BUT, imho if you are not very skilled with body work (welding, drilling, painting, sanding, etc.), this would not be a task that i would attempt to accomplish without professional help.

it would be scary if the roof was only held on by a few bolts

If you don't get a good bit, its going to suck. There is a thread about this in the welding section.

search the archives - there's a guy that did the 92-95 sunroof swap - detailed pics of the removal and donor swap..

it's not easy but IMO it's worth it -- i would do if i could

i might be listed under "sunroof"

you have to search for a while....
