Transmission leaking...
I have an 05 EP3 with 44K. The transmission started to leak slightly right after the warranty expired. Now, it is not leaking enough to drip. It only leaks enough to coat the transmission in a layer of fluid. I change the fluid every 10K with Redline MTL (overkill I know, but I change my Redline oil every 2.5K). It has been about 5K since the last change, and I checked the fluid, and it is full. This leak was pre-existing before the last change, so it was nothing the shop did. I have taken it to two different transmission shops and both are quoting me $400 just to remove the transmission and re-install it. It will go to the dealer next week for a quote but I am expecting somewhere in the same ballpark. It is leaking sightly onto my clutch causing slight slippage during hard acceleration.
Has anyone had this issue with their EP? What was the problem/fix/cost?
On a sidenote, $400 to remove and re-install the transmission; a clutch job must be expensive. Performance clutch ($400) + Flywheel ($250) + labor ($400) = $1050!! WTF??
Thanks.
