Default speaker harness question

if i buy aftermarket speakers for my car can i plug them into the same place as the old speakers or do i need one of these

will they sound like crap if i plug them into the factory wires

The speakers are only going to sound as good as the signal they are reciving. The stock speaker wires are good up to 40 watts. But I seen systems that used 50 rms watts thru factory wires that sounded great. And you would not even tell the diffrence. But thats were I draw my line and replace to bigger speaker wire. The adapters will be okay.

my car is old and they have 15w speakers in them can they still handle 40w

Yes the speaker wires can, the 15W speakers can also, just not for very long. 94

i have some 180 watt pioneers, and my head unit only puts out 52x4, will they still sound good or do i really need an amp.

thats peak power. Whats the rms? and model numbers?
