Default B16b engine swap

Hi i am looking into swapping the stock engine in my civic 99' with a jdm B16B. password:jdm offers a B16A for a little over 1k i was wondering if any of these engines are good or if they last 30k miles and you have to replace the parts in them.

IMO, spend a little more and get B18C (ITR). You get more power and torque.

x2.

Both are fantastic motors but the 1.8L has the superior end in capability and rod/stroke ratio.

The difference in price is minimal enough when your spending as much as you would for either.

Even if it's A few hundred dollars more, It's so worth it knowing you're getting a good deal, a good price, and a good seller with a good reputation.

A swap we ordered came with a cracked distributor, we called the guys up at Hmotors and had a distributor in 2 days no questions asked.

What's the rod/stroke ratio of a B16B and a B18C? I know the CTR is near perfect, but what are the numbers exactly.

they're both excellent. but the 1.8L has the .2L advantage.

Personally id go with a b18c (gsr) because its for one cheaper. well mostly that esp over a b16b witht he money u save u can do a couple small mods and make more power than both the c5 and b16b and its still cheaper. One thing you'd be missing is the lsd from the trannys out of the itr swaps well if u were to go with a full change-over.

yeah but if you go through HMO you get the optional lsd for like 300-350 more either 1.5 lsd or clutch pack.... i went with clutch pack

Sure, but you might get a broken part, no warranty, and shitty customer service.

Trust the 15 people in this thread that are for hmotors.

The extra $200 or so for hmotors is worth it in the end. It's a fraction of what your spending. And you know you're getting a good motor from a good company.

honda engine's arent american made, so in a sense, it's all jdm.

b18c1, b18b1, b20b, h22a4, k20a2, all in usdm cars though.

jdm engines have slight power advantages compared to their usdm brothers. this is due to higher octane and less strict emissions regulations in japan. also, usually jdm engines have fewer miles than usdm engines.

Well done rookie... you just necro-bumped a sixteen year old dead thread... and offered absolutely nothing useful to future readers. Good start. Welcome to the Community.
