Default removing epoxy off of paint

Yesterday I accidently made the mistake of attaching an emblem on to the trunk with epoxy... Is there any way I can remove it without damaging the paint? I'm planning on reattaching it with 3M.

when taking my emblems off, there was adhesive residue left, i soaked the residue in WD40 and then lightly heated it with a hair dryer until it was melted then picked it off. any excess will eventually come off if you just wash it and scrub the area with whatever you use for washing your car.

be careful with the hair dryer to not get to close and get the paint hot. it might warp.

I epoxy'd over my vin tag in the door. I myself didn't have anything to take it off, so I just sanded it lightly until it was gone. The paint isn't done yet, so I'll eventually clear over the sticker again. Don't know if that helps.

^ ^ hmm, not sure about what?

To the op: epoxy will etch the paint the longer it sits on there. If paint thinner doesn't get it off, compond should. Just make sure you use a fine cutting polish after the compound followed by a glaze or quick polish.

A clay bar might even get most of it off.

you could always sand the epoxy down with 320 grit and then before you hit the paint you could wet sand it and then if you break thruogh the clear you could buff it out

If you break through clear, there's no buffing....it's done
