Default New to forum, own 2007 Civic Coupe LX, asking for some help

So people, after a while driving fords and VWs i finally was able to afford a honda, not to mention a new one.... AND DAMN I NEED HELP!
lol i do car radios, but the LX doesnt have a double din or din set up....
What im looking for is all the information i can get about my car that the manufacturer or dealer wont tell me! Discoveries, helpful hints, gas milage tips, performance tips, what parts to use, wat size rims/tires are best...etc.
Then ill start looking for that stuff
im a college student working 3 jobs who barly can afford this car, and i LOVE IT... lol
Im glad the jetta died, i would never have gotten such a nice car (parents have had them for years, dad owns 92 Accord DX sedan manual, has 298000 miles on it, hasnt done an oil change in 40 grand, dont know how he gets so lucky... lol)
I dont want to destroy my car, but im looking to do the following:
HIDs (or imitators that wont burn out the cable)
Sound system
Rims/tires
Taillights (I want LEDS!)
OEM FOG LIGHTS WANTED!
etc.

Help me if you can peeps, one part at a time i wanna make this my sickest car yet!

I don't have much time right now, but here is some quick information.

For sound system, I would go with the Pioneer D3. This is what I am planning on getting once the $$ is available. The 2 links below will give you information on installation as well as what it looks like installed. I think there are some other sound system recommendations in there too.

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2032115
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2037445

For HIDs, everyone seems to highly recommend a retro-fit from custom lightz. All the pictures on their website look really good. Again, I will be going with this once the $$ is available. They are even doing a group buy for HT members:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/2037600

There's some information to start. I will try to put more up when I have some more time.

ok that seeems useful, but i found the parts for scoshce ones way less than crutchfield offers. After like shipping its about 40 bucks, which aint bad, but i dont know wtf to do with the adapter at that point (havent bought it yet) And i dont want to expletive it up, but i dont have the money to buy a honda one and have it installed right... thats what kills me... lol
I know i can do it myself if someone can point me in the direction of install guides!!! lol or i get a certified honda tech to talk to me on here lol
well see, i might wait til christmas to do that part (get my gf to buy it for me :-D)
as far as HIDs id love to do the buy in but i dont have the money! not yet at least, i might not go with HIDs for a while, but what do people know about the Xenon Halogen "HID" bulbs? I saw a set that was 40 bux and it included 2 80 Watt and 2 100 watt bulbs, not a bad deal for immitators, but is it better to go with sylvania's immitators?

God i wish i had some more cash lol

Are you talking about the double din kit and molding? If so, get the OEM part from Majestic Honda:

You will need the dash kit, brackets (2) and pocket (only if your doing single din radio), wiring harness, antenna adapter. That is all

Please don't do the HID kit. They are UNRELIABLE for the most part because they don't use OEM components, you're plugging them into your halogen housing which will not spread the light effectively, and you are going to be running them off hte stock wiring which is a danger over time.

I wouldn't go for the imitation bulbs either. Faking the funk looks ridiculous because everyone knows that you don't really have HIDs, it just looks cheap. And 80-100 watt bulbs when the stock wattage is 65 means you're going to have a bad heat issue and you're probably going to screw up something or other, be it the bulbs or the harness.

I have done the brighter bulbs, bluer bulbs, HID kit, and now i'm back to halogens. HIDs on an OEM car cost more money for a reason. You're not improving visibility, just throwing out more light. OEM HID projectors have a good pattern, even light distribution, and are much more reliable than any of the other options.

I suggest either saving for the retrofit, or use your money elsewhere.

The adapter you are looking for is going to be made by whoever makes tha radio or an aftermarket company... thats even if they make something that has the honda adapter to RCA or whatever.

Ok in reply to the last 3 posts
i found a much better HID kit, from a guy on 8th gen who installs it (a dude from china on ebay sells it)
Hes had no problems, it uses less power and easy installation as well as there are no problems with the projectors on the Civic i have he said (he has the 4 door version) that he can see better and they run 6 degrees cooler after 1 hour of use

As far as the adapter goes, (FBPsidan) YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT... do u know wat an rca cable even is? you shouldnt be touching car audio, seriously
All i need is an adapter from ANY company that changes the specialty connector to a pair of RCA cables... thats it... is it really that hard of a concept?

and to the guy about the d3, i dont havethe money the insurance and payments are raping my wallet, but thanks anyways, im gonna stick with my Insignia deck, i love it!

any company? wouldn't that be exactly like what FBPsidan said? "whoever makes the radio" and "aftermarket companies" seem to make up the bulk of "any company" right?

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by FBPSidan &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">The adapter you are looking for is going to be made by whoever makes tha radio or an aftermarket company... thats even if they make something that has the honda adapter to RCA or whatever. </TD></TR></TABLE>

what the hell specialty connector are you talking about? I though you were trying to use the 1/8" jack that comes with the honda? If you're just wanting ipod to rca that's different.

like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Logic3-i...3D7WC

if you wanna use the factory 1/8" stereo input, then cut the cables after the little module, split the left and right and put rca's cable ends on. If you're such a stereo god why are you here asking questions, just get it done already.

oh btw. I don't care what anyone has told you about those headlights

1) they're chinese
2) they sell on ebay

and you're gonna put them on a brand new car? might as well hit up the pep boys for the rest of your mods..

You have no idea what the difference is between OEM HID projectors and a kit thrown in halogen housings.

Go join hidplanet.com and read up on some of their 'university' section so you get an understanding of the difference between a cheap crappy kit and a well performing OEM setup.

Easy installation means that it's probably junk. If you want to have a good HID setup on your car, you're going to have to retrofit, which isn't 'easy'. Not hard if you have some skill, but it's often best left to more experienced people, like customlightz.com.

I'm going to say this, and I mean it in the nicest way possible.

You don't know what you're getting into and you don't understand the right and wrong ways to do things, and if you continue to cheap out, it's going to bite you in the ***.

This is probably one of the most important commandments of modifying a car. The cheapest way is not always the best way....and I certainly wouldn't believe everything you read or hear from some chinese dude on ebay.....or anyone for that matter without doing research on your own.

He makes a good point tda1337....if something sounds too good to be true.......IT PROBABLY IS!!

Now you can take what we're saying and apply it.....or you can choose to go your own way and take the chance for yourself. And judging by what i've read so far....you're well on your way to burning your car to the ground if you're not careful. And for someone who can barely make the payments and insurance payments.....I think that's the last thing you want to happen.

Good Luck!

OK why dont u do some research into HIDs before u jump down my throat, this wasnt your fight, FOR one
ALL HIDs ARE MADE IN CHINA! not the bulbs, the balasts. so before u start quoting your stuff do some research
Its not too goood to be true, if i really wanted i could build a ballest for these from a flourescent ballast, the technology is very similar, considering i come from a family of electronic engineers, i could have someone do that for me, but its ghetto
second, its still a pain in the *** to do the mod even with that plug and play kit because its too tight behind the light on one side of the car to do, A bud of mine at school did his car with 6000K from the guy, and it looks just as good as the ones my friend from UHA did on his mustang... price difference is 300 dollars... thats rediculous to spend on some basic electronics and some gas filled glass... seriously people, ur the reason america gets ripped off... and not all bad things come out of China

Take the time to read the whole thing carefully
If you dont know what an RCA cable is, please do not even bother responding to my questions. Im looking for KNOWLEDGEABLE people. Dont know what an RCA cable is? You dont know what audio is. Its a simple cable used since the 70s to make speaker connections. So please do some research on audio before u tell me that my audio company makes it. Guess what, they dont.
And they dont have to, because i have Low voltage inputs on the rear of my deck that are RCA just like 95% of after market decks DO!
I am NOT going to Cut and Splice wires ANYWHERE on this car. I am doing this the right way. All i asked was if someone knew where to get the connector that goes from the strange HONDA OEM 3 pin connector to dual RCA cables... thats it. What i got was people who know nothing about Audio in general responding. Im sorry if i offended people, but maybe I wasnt clear enough.
NEXT
Light patterns are something thats highly predictable. Schaler honda Offered an HID retrofit that simply does exactly what i plan on doing, plus adjusting them so the projection is correct for 900 dollars. Any of these HID kits are made in China. If you dont believe me look it up. The reason i bought a honda was the fact that my own father has a 92 accord with 300 grand on it... and it runs like day one. I know what these cars are capable of. As i said for the HIDs they are all made in china and have similar ballasts to Flourescents. So, unless someone can give me the technical answer to burning out the car, im not gonna believe a word they say. It uses 35 Watts of power, if ur claiming im gonna burn something out, then it must be using more CURRENT somehow. Show me some technical Data, And ill definatly believe you. I was able to keep a 180grand TAURUS running, i think i can keep a much tougher Honda running. And running well. Im not doing a turbo. Im not doing retarded nitrous. There will be NO fart cannons. This is simple serious mods. HIDs. Radio. HONDA RIMS. JDM fogs. And Altezza LED taillights. Thats all. show me some data that says HIDs burn hotter, take more current, or whatever you are using to base your data on. And the information i got was from a respectable AMERICAN on 8thgen.com who owns a 4 door civic, and just happened to choose that particular kit on ebay.
Your distrust for the chinese is brooded by the America Government. Shouldnt you be looking into why your government has a problem with the chinese?
Did you know all that lead that is in the kids toys is nothing compared to the lead in the wire weve produced for years in america?
I am educated. I know Car audio. I know a decent amount about cars. I am not a car mechanic.
But for the next person who wants to insult me and tell me how it is when they are ignorant. Get lost. I want information from people who are gonna help me with COLD hard evidence. Not "THE CHINESE MAKE IT!!! :-O"
Who cares. I bought a japanese car. about 1/3 of the parts at least are from china.
well? seriously people grow up and stop attacking me.
Give me the evidence. SHow me. If you think i dont know anything, Educate me. Thats why im here. Im asking serious advice.
Thanks to those who have helped so far, and im sorry to those ive insulted. But get back to me with FULL answers.

Ha....only 180k? I had my Taurus up to 260k before I bought my Si. Now, my brother is driving the Taurus and it still runs fine.

Sorry, I know that was completely unrelated and not helpful at all, but I couldn't resist.
