Default Help on installing oil temp gauge

Does anyone know how to install an oil temp sender for my gauge? I have a 00 Prelude Sh. Any Pics. Im looking for the port near the oil filter or another way that doesnt require drilling into the oil pan.

Drilling into the oil pan is the right way to do it. You need to have the sender near the majority of the oil if you are to get an accurate temp measurement. It may not be in the path of the oil if you try to put it were the pressure sensor is, so it wouldn't give an accurate reading.

If you really want to do it right, buy an extra pan, and have a hole drilled, as well as add baffling to the pan. Moroso or someone else might already make one.

Mike is right, though if you don't have the means of drilling/welding/tapping in the oil pan you could always get one of those sandwich adapters for the oil filter and take the measurement there, but that may not be fully accurate because the the "oil cooler" (coolant flows around the oil feed to the filter) is right there.

I suppose you could install the sensor in the drain plug.

^^That isn't a bad idea as long as the thing isn't very long, the drain plug angles down...
