95 JDM H22a motor has jumpy idle
I'm looking into buying a 1995 Prelude and the idle is crazy on it. You start it up and it will rev up to 4-5k then back down to 1k then back to 4-5k and so on and doesn't stop. If I tap the throttle it will hesitate at whatever rev its at then go back to the usual jumping.
Now there are 2 main things that I think it could be...
1) TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) - That this could need replacing
2) IAC (Idle Air Control) - Maybe its gummed up or something or needs replacing?
I was also thinking it could be a vacuum leak or something because its got the skunk2 Intake Manifold on it and makes a whistling sound on decel. I just want to make sure if I buy this prelude, that it won't become a headache.
Thanks guys!

test the voltage on the TPS sensor (doubt this is your problem)
Take the IACV off and clean the screen. (doubt this is your problem)
check for leaks (likely your problem). You have a big leak somewhere.
any check engine lights?

i really doubt its the FITV.. thats for warmup and usually warmup doesnt go to 4-5k. seriously thats almost vtec.

it is just for warm up but the little screw in mines was out all the way and caused it to idle high all the time. it wasnt just on start up. so yes he can check that..just cover the whole on the throttle body and if the idle goes to normal thers your problem
yeah i guess that could be it. have the seller take apart the throttlebody and clean it up, then see if problem persists.. if so look for a fat vac leak and at worst have him take apart the intake manifold or put the stock one back on. man ive never heard of a regular car idling that high lol

I think I'm going to go the easiest route and just buy a complete stock JDM intake manifold and have my honda mastertech put it in correctly to get this gay skunk2 IM out of there. Doesn't make power on a stock motor as is. Thanks for all the input so far guys!
Not sure, the seller and I agreed on a price and he's going to take care of having a shop fix it so we'll find out soon what it is. I'm not sure which skunk2 it is but if it gets fixed, it stays ;-)
