Deist trans blanket related to clutch issue??????
Seems like the Deist blanket on my engine is causing a huge problem for me. The only thing I can think is that it is trapping heat and causing the brake fluid in the slave to expand causing the clutch to disengage on me. I can crack the bleeder and it ****'s out fluid with the pedal out, then its fine. Im running DOT4 fluid and thats no help. If I let the car cool down I get a pedal again. The other night just for ***** n giggles I poured water onto it and it evaporated pretty fast......my battery died in my IR temp gun so I couldn't get an actual temp of it
Sooooo, anyone else ever have a problem like this? BTW, I've replaced both master and slave several times. Stock hard line with braided line in place of stock rubber line. Exedy twin clutch. Master adjusted 100x to see if it made a difference but it didn't.
My next step is to maybe paint the slave with high temp ceramic paint and use some phonolic washers between the slave and trans and under the bolt heads.

it shouldnt **** out fluid with the pedal out unless the master is adjusted so that its not allowing fluid back into the resevoir and causing residual pressure.

I haven't tried pulling off the blanket yet but it was the next thing to do. I might route it under the slave if I can, but Im sure its picking up the heat from the downpipe which is less than .75" away from it on the end where the bleeder is. If anything its possible the blanket, since its covering it, could be keeping heat radiating off the dp but keeping heat in it from the block/trans soaking it.

Master cylinder push rod was not adjusted out towards the pedal. It's loose and kind of floating around when the problem is not there, but is pushing against the pedal when the system is pressurized (ie, f'ud up).
I wonder if I'm the only one with this prohlem. Any of you guys using the Deist blanket care to speak up and tell me if they've seen this problem before. Thanks.

lotsa people are running that setup dan,
g/e scatter shield here. never had an issue with that.
that has me thinking.
hows the car otherwise?

i dont know what turbo he has gone with, but it is, top mount 4" d.p.

Car is running ok, dont have as much time to play with it that I would like to. Having a tough time with getting it to idle with the 160#ers and S2P1 cams, but I guess 11.6 a/f at 1000rpm isn't too bad on 93 octane.
Went to Evans last week and had a little issue on the dyno with a plug falling apart and dropping the ceramic into the cylinder. Had terrible leakdown and compression numbers at his place then came back to my shop, drove it around the block and the numbers for that cylinder got progressively better from 80 compression/85% leakage at Evans place to 170 and 5% at my place.....weird. Looked into the cylinder with my boroscope and there's a couple small fragments of the ceramic embeded into my piston and a couple small scratches on the cylinder wall. But Im gonna roll with it, I can deal with that cylinder being in a little worse shape than the others. Hoping to go back soon and make 700+ on corn.

Exhaust (uncoated, no wrap) is about .75", maybe less, away from the bleeder. Slave is under the blanket.

I had a master cyl problem on my dd like you are having before, Replaced the master and prob was fixed. Don't know if that will help you or not.
