i was working on my 90 accord today.....
i made a thread earlier that it wouldn't start.
it gets fuel, the fuses are all good, and the battery is fine as well.
the engine just cranks. turns over but won't ignite. When I jump it, wait a couple and turn the key, it cranks for less than a minute till the battery dies then I have to wait to try again.
i remember the day it died having to wrestle with the steering wheel to get the key to even turn it on.
my father guesses ignitor coil but everyone is telling me differently.
"no its the alternator"
"its the starter"
"its the timing belt"
"its the starting relay"
ect ect.
whats wrong with my car?!!!!!!

Would the motor crank right after it died and you got to the shoulder, if so then the alternator and battery are fine. as for the timing belt, take off the oil cap, get a flash light, shine on some valves and have someone crank it, if the valves move, then the timing belt is ok. to check coil, take a spark plug out (doesnt matter which on), plug the spark plug into the wire it is supposed to be in, lay the plug on something metal on the motor that is not painted. make sure the threaded end of the plug is touching the unpainted metal. Have someone crank the engine and see if the plug sparks. If not, then you have distributer/ignition problems, etc: coil, distributor cap, rotor button, ignition module. if the engine cranks then there is no starter problem.
