I guess thats a good idea for $40, but the place I dropped my d16 block off at gave me $17 for the 'irony aluminum" as they called it. $10 is sort of a rip-off for scrap aluminum.

I got paid like $45 for 2 bare heads and a block w/ stock sleeves and mains (about 130lbs as I recall). Keep in mind that the mains (the ones cast into the block) are also steel if Im not mistaken. Basically when they melt the aluminum the steel wont melt, so its not like they dont split it out....they just dont want to pay for it.

haha, that's what we do at work all the time.i've gone a couple times when they were actually open-went to the back gate, tipped the rollback bed up and dumped a ton of steel scrap.the whole time there's a guy yelling at me to weigh in first...i just blew the horn and drove off.at least they don't have to pay for it.

lol, I've done that too. I also left old oil in front of a grease monkey because no one around me would take the oil without making me buy something. I'd rather have them take it, than throw it in the dumpster.

20lb sledge hammer. I disassembled a cylinder head with one, and a mower, and 4spd trans with a bad input shaft bearing.

They should be paying you if your giving them metal. Here in FL I get like $40 bucks for taking in a broken vehicle sub frame, but this is a auto recyclers metal scrap yard I take it to.

I get 40 cents a lb for cast alluminum here. You gotta pull out all the iron and steel though. Just took a bunch of POS manis and a junk block down the other day and got $57
