Default How Hard is it to Mod a Type SH

I am thinking of picking up a Type SH come spring, so I am doing a lot of research now. I'm sure some of you have seen a few other posts I have made.

I am pretty sold on a Type SH model, except I am worried it is much more difficult to build compared to a base model. I want to put in a good coilover setup, brakes, wheels, and build up the motor N/A while putting her on a diet. I know the base is lighter, and the suspension is different, but I want an SH for the options. I am sick of having power nothing in the EF.

So for the SH guys, do you have a hard time finding things such as a good coilover setup? Also, how low can you go without causing damage? I heard the ATTS system doesn't like it when the car is quite low.

Now if I went with a base model, would it be a nightmare swapping in SH parts such as heated seats/mirrors?

Maybe the newer SH models are different, but I have 2 friends with Preludes, both 1997's ones an SH one isnt.. and the only different is the SH has the lip kit, looks a little nicer, and the ATTS... no other options...

^^Exactly, there are very minor differences from the base to the SH.

If you're going to do minor things, not looking to get much more than 225whp or so, go ahead and get an SH.

If you're planning on going any more extreme than that, don't bother, the ATTS will give you all kinds of problems.

An SH is only good for up to about 240-250 hp before the ATTS system starts malfunctioning but you can do bolt-ons and suspension upgrades easily.

The SH differences are:

Different shift ****
painted side skirts and rear lip
ATTS
courtesy lights in the doors
no 3rd brake light in the back deck since all SH's came with a spoiler with LED brakelight
Oil filter in a different place
exhaust parts are shorter
Suspension is different
5 spoke wheels made by Enkei

I believe that's all but someone add on if there's more.

Thanks for the input. I am aware of the differences between the two and I have read through, and posted in, the Base vs SH thread. I just want to make sure I get the right platform for me.

My biggest concern now is, is it harder to find things such as a quality coilover setup for an SH, or am I limited to shock/springs? How low can you drop an SH before it can protentially give you problems (I have heard of the CV boots getting worn out from being slammed?) Also, I live in Canada, so our Type SH's had heated mirrors and heated leather seats Do any of you know of the heated leather seats from a DC5 swap into a Lude and are functional?

If the ATTS works fine up until 250whp then that would be fine for me. My plan would be to do bolt ons, some head work, and lightening the car (mainly in the front end to try and even out the weight distribution) by relocating the battery, flywheel, CF hood and so on.

Again, thanks for the input everyone.

You can find any suspension stuff you want for the SH. Just get a full shock and spring setup and you will be good, there are issues with partially stock setups, I don't remember the specifics.

You don't want to lower an SH any more than would be good for any car, it's no different. Don't go ridiculously low unless you want problems.

Get a SH and drop in a Type-S motor. VTEC kicks like a mule YO. Ive had no problems with my SH getting mods and such. Ive even had it slammed at one point and i never threw ATTS or any codes for that matter.

LOL mule.

I guess VAFC is better than nothing. Hopefully someone can chime in for that. What if you ran a Euro R map, or Type S map? Someone must have something figured out.

ATTS sounds sweet, but I dunno why Honda didn't just put in a limited slip and call it a day... How is the SiR S spec motor with LSD compared to other H motors?
