I mounted my spoiler today, bought some rubber gasket material to keep water from getting in, but its too think and I can't bolt it down all the way.

Any ideas on what to use to seal the holes I drilled from water so it doesn't rust up my trunk?

 

Whats wrong with a bead of clear silicone/rtv?
(the kind that requires solvent to wash off)

 

Been told you can't put it on the paint

 

says who? works fine on my trunk lid....

 

honda uses windshield adhesive sealent. on there stock wings.

and silicone as a body sealer is GETTO.


i worked in a body shop and your better off useing Seam sealer then silicone

 

You can remove silicone... Its a bit tougher to remove window-weld/urethane.

Ghetto or not it works fine for me...and has for years

My stock spoiler doesn't have any type of sealer on it that I can see. It has foam gaskets though.

 

you can get that foam at the hobby store and cut it to shape

 

Yeah, I tried, the smallest stuff I could get though was too thick, couldn't get the spoiler bolted down enough
