Popping/backfiring after heavy throttle
Just recently I've noticed my car has been making a rather loud popping noise after heavy acceleration.
It happens maybe 2-4 seconds after I let off.
It sounds like it's coming from where the downpipe connects to the exhaust... But i'm not positive.
What should I check?

Your running 650cc injectors and a turbo, have you ever gotten a tune?
Sounds like your running rich

air entering the exhaust system mixed with HOT unburnt fuel will ignite and cause a popping sound on decel/tip out. so find and fix your exhaust leak and u won't have anymore "backfire"

Are you confusing gargling/pops to backfiring? Yes, removing a cat will make your exhaust louder, raspier, and make it have louder gargling/pops. You would know if it was an actual backfire, becuase it would sound like a shotgun blast, and wake the neighborhood, lol.

It's deffintly a backfire...
My r6 would gurggle/pop on decel...this is not what my car is doing.
It sounds more like a gun shot..

Yeah, some people get them confused quite often.
It def. sounds like a backfire though.
This comes from dumping raw fuel down the downpipe (it ignites).
You're probably running hella rich.
Get your turbo tuned, and if it is tuned, see if they have to go so heavy on the rich side...I mean yeah play it safe, but not to point where it's backfiring.
