Default Cam gear question

A friend of mine just bought a set of Fidanza cam gears for his h22 head. The gears look like the identical size, and they slide on the cams perfectly, but they spin. The cam gears have a notch for a woodruff key, but the stock cam gear doesn't...it has a notch that fits in a slot on the cam. Does anyone know if he might have gotten a b-series cam gear? Or will he need to find some woodruff keys? The gears just spin on the cams, and when you line the notch on the cam gear with the one for the cam, it looks as if a woodfruff key might possibly not fit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to buy the woodruff keys for a 4Gen. On the 5Gen, the key is machined into the cam gear, as you've found they're not machined into aftermarket cam gears.

Yes, 99 is a 5th gen, but the Fidanza gears need the key for the 4th gen. Most likely the gears are designed for a 4th gen...

That's bull-****. You might gain a little using them. They are used more to add tuning flexibility, rather than to get a huge gain. You'll get a little, or you may change some aspect of how well the engine runs, but you won't pick up 15 whp.

I've never used a Fidanza product before, so I can't say anything about their reliability. They have a god rep from what I hear though.

Yeah...pretty much if you are on stock internals, you don't need them.
