Default DIY topmount, how well will this work? General topmount ?????'s

So i was parusing through the boosted ef thread and came across this.

Ive got an hx35 with the 16cm housing, slightly built GSR, PTE 1000cc's. And im really looking into a topmount. But im a broke bitch and dont wanna shell out $1000+ for a decent one. So would this work? I know the wastegate placement would inspire some boost creep, but i can pick up another 38mm wastegate. Its just the hx35 has a divided housing and id like to take advantage of that, so what do you guys think? Is there a real advantege to running a topmount?

That looks pretty ghetto, but I don't see where it wouldn't work as long as it cleared the accessories and radiator/fans okay.

building a topmount like that should work alright, but in my own experience going from a good topmount to a shorty ramhorn, i would never go back to a topmount unless i was building an all out drag car....i just hated the lag

are the runners paired (1&4),(2&3)? If so thats pretty cool you can do a twin scroll. Only thing would need to change is to bridge the WG to each side. no to ghetto but would work fine imo

Guys... that was built with scrap pieces for a 2007 GRM car.... So don't over analyze the picture above too much.

It actually looks like it is pairing 1&4 and 2&3 which is what you want to do for a twin scroll. You can also use the top section of a header which are normally paired that way as well and will probably flow a little better.I would throw a pair of 38mm gates on and you might have a winner for cheap This thread on HMT shows one that would work well for that apllication.

If you want to go *really* cheap and save for a quality manifold for later, you can use cast iron fittings and steel pipe.

I made one that for $50 (inc downpipe), and most of that is for flanges and 3" elbows/pipe.

If you say so... we just did a quick basemap and a few quick pulls last night... it works great.

I would rock that manifold. Why not. It probably performs pretty good, and a lot less heavy fabrication. I don't see it as necessary for a Honda, but there are a lot of platforms out there that don't have a lot of aftermarket support that could use this idea.
