plug and play, buy a 04-05 cluster with a tachometer is all you need to do.

I would say your dealer doesn't really look into the wiring all that much. The wiring is the same gauge from EX to base model.

So if you don't have a tach? then you must have a VP, one option is to buy a lx, ex, cluster and plug it in, but expect you must run your tach wire to the harness, because the wire is located all the way behind you right headlight, also you might have to rewire certain wires because the ex cluster is lighted as soon as you start your engine, second option which might be a consider a little ricer, is to buy an aftermarket tach, check out my car domain where i did the second option, http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2415786/7. hope this helps

for one i have an 03-05 civic lx cluster if u want it, but the wiring in a vp with no tachometer is different then an ex or lx with a tachometer, i have an 03 ex cluster in my 05 vp. i work at a Honda dealer and unless u have an ex cluster like i was luckier then hell to find off of a wrecked front clip u will have to re-pin most of the of he two connectors that are in the gauge cluster if u can find an ex harness you should just splice it in and then if anything you can use the stock cluster, the only thing i have had a problem with and have not had time to mess with is i have no reverse lights after the swap

not true. any cluster from an 01-05 lx will work. if you get a cluster from an ex, you'll have to re-pin the clip...which there are plenty of diagrams and vids for.

i got my cluster for my 04 vp for $40 on ebay and its out of an 02 lx coupe. just make sure you get a manual cluster.
