ok my friend has an R, and is tuned on crome on a p05 civic ecu.. but under a load in either 3rd or 4th sometimes the CEL will go on and it feels like the power is cut. What is causing this? also when you turn the key off it goes away. He thinks it might be the base map or something with the Ecu. Thanks for the help

well you're posting in the ITR forum, either you have an ITR swap or you posted in the wrong forum.
P05 = CX = no VTEC = will not run an ITR swap well without VTEC parts being added.
your sig shows a CX.
I'm betting this is in the wrong forum.
to answer your question, a basemap is meant to get you to a tuner. do so.
pushing on a basemap is asking for engine damage.
CEL on typically means rich A/F and retarded ignition. which would feel a lot like a fuel cut.
