Wow......I think youre out of luck short of Custom Rods......
Carrillo
Scat
Manley
Just naming names.......

Crower makes H23 rods but they won't work with OEM pistons.

Let us know what you find out though.......

You can have the Type S piston wrist pin bore honed to fit a true 22mm wrist pin like those used in aftermarket rods and pistons.

Yep, that's what I did in this H22 that I was building, but I can no longer use since I'm in Honda Challenge. Anyone want to buy a pristine H22 freshly built (never started, or even had a head on the block)? Type S pistons, brand new crank (lightened), Crower Maxi-Lite rods, eliminated balance shafts, etc?

It came out of a 1999 5Gen base model, IIRC. It was partial payment for an engine swap I did when the guy spun his rod bearing (hence the new crank that was bought brand new from Honda!).

Well, if I can't get a decent amount for it as-is, I'm thinking of buying some OS OEM pistons, and if the clearance is within spec, I'll use the OEM H22 OS pistons with OEM rods. I'll sell the Crower rods and Type S pistons as a package.

The only problem would be the crank since it's lightened, but I don't plan to be a front runner for quite some time, so it won't be that big of a deal.

So maybe I should ask: Is there any interest in Crower Maxi-Lite rods with Type S pistons that have been modified to work with them? he rods also use lightweight wrist pins. Never been run, brand new, just installed in a current engine.

0.090"?!! That's over 2mm. You need to clay the engine to see if you have enough clearance with a 0.120" headgasket. That's a seriously thick headgasket. It's over 4X thicker than stock.

It's a basic but very affective way of checking your clearances. There are loads of threads on here if you do a search.

What did your machine shop say about the problem?

the machine shop told me to put the thick headgasket on, and it should be fine. But i wanted to get some other opinions.
