ive been having a fluxuating RPM probelm for a few weeks (too busy to get it checked) ive been told its probably my external msd coil. now today in the rain it started hesitating at WOT and giving a weird exhaust tone at idle from the header area?? (sounds like an exhaust leak but is not cause it only happens spouratically (sp). what are the other possibilities.

what are the possible results of driving it around (cant get it fixed till exams are done monday)

 

Do you have an MSD ignition amplifier on there too? Like a 6al or digital 6 or something along those lines? If so, try disconnecting it, and wiring the coil directly. I just recently had my brand new digital-6 go bad (less than 100 miles on it), and it caused almost all the problems you said, before finally just quitting. It had worked great up until about a week before it died, when it started doing the stuff you described. When I connected my msd coil directly, the car ran normally again. If it isn't the amplifier or you don't have one, try substituting a known good coil and see if it solves the problem. Hope this helps, good luck

 

no i dont have any ignition amplifier only a msd cap with blaster coil.........im thinking of just going stock since i have some nology hotwires that are supposed to help????
