Default Dyno Results and Questions On A H23

Hi all went to Raceline on Tuesday The 4th and had her dynoed. Mustang Dyno
Tuned By Josh.

H23
ARP Head Studs
92 Prelude Si
NGK Plugs And Wires
SFP Manifold
Tial 38mm wastegate
Darton Sleeves
Spark Racing Rods
Arias Piston 9-1 Comp
Stock Intake
3 Angle Valve Job
Stock Cams
Precision 780cc Injectors
Hondata S300
Garrett T3T4 60ar 57 trim 63 exhaust
2.5" intercooler piping all the way around
3"downpipe with 3" exhaust
ACT 6 Puck Clutch

She made 310whp at 15 psi and 308 wtq at that boost level also. Josh said we were running out of turbo. Nice and smooth HP and TRQ curves all the way till 6500rpm. Then she starts to fall off. 11.3 on the Wide band is what we tuned it too.
So I quess I need a bigger turbo. I want to hit about 380-400whp. Is there anything I can do to the stock intake manifold to make it breath better? Also do you think If I run crower turbo cams and jump into a SC61 I can reach these levels Im wanting to get to. Just drop me a line and let me know what you guys think I can do to squeez another 80whp out of this beast.

Thanks Pat.

I don't really know much about turbos at all but from what I have read, you still have the stock cams in your engine. You could probably make some more HP if you change those. The intake manifold is probably not letting it breath as well as it should either. You can grind the ports of the intake manifold a little bigger and see if that helps.

Turbo cams are your friend. SC61 would be a nice compliment.

yes turbo cams will give you some more. there is dyno proof on here that with turbo cams people have made the same power on lower psi with turbo cams. also remember you were on a mustang dyno they read lower. but you shouldnt really worry about the dyno numbers just the track results.

Either remove the IAB plate from the intake manifold, or get a couple of them, remove the butterfly vavles, and stack them.

Yeah, bigger cams. the stock ones only have .375" lift. That's pretty weak. Crower turbo cams should help out a bit with an additional .065" lift and 10˚ more duration.

now post the graph.

If you want to try a different manifold there is this:

How come nobody suggests a GT30/35R?
I think gutting the crap out of the manifold would help out......
Maybe E85? What kind of fuel were you tuning on?

Mustang dyno's read a lot lower than dynojets do. The local Mustang dyno we have here reads exactly 25% lower than our dynojet 224xlc reads. So I would say it's safe to say you are making at least 350-370whp out of your set-up. If you want 400whp all you really need to do is up your boost. Your motor is built so another 5-6psi should put you where you want to be. A nice intake manifold for the H23a is the golden eagle one.

The SC61 would definetely help you out a ton.

Would you explain what you man by IAB plates and they butterflies. It qas tuned on 93 octane also. That manifold by Golden eagle reads for an h22 only.

The IAB plate is a plate that goes in between the plenum and the runners of the IM and opens 4 secondary runners up at about 4000rpm.

You're better off removing that thing if you're gonna keep the stock IM.

If it was me, with a turbo engine, I would pick up an obx intake manifold (cheap, decent quality, Golden Eagle replica) and a 70+mm throttle body and get the thing flowing more air on the intake side.

Beyond that, a bigger turbo and a head job would be next on the list.
