Need help with pistons!!!!!!!
OK, im doing an LS/VTEC conversion, I want to have high compression but i need help with the setup. I want to get wither CTR or ITR pistons but i dont want to get a new crankshaft. I will have to get some connecting rods that will fit to my crankshaft but strong enough to hold the pistons without any problems. I dont want to have to spend an *** of money on the rods either, can someone help me with what i should do???
THANKS
THANKS
they wouldnt be stock they would be aftermarket so that they wouldnt snap in half but i dunno if that would work, it just what someone told me.
Stock rods should not snap under naturally aspirated conditions, unless you have clearance problems, or there is a severe fuel or ignition problem, or over-revving of course.
I dont know much about LS/VTEC, but you should call a shop or try raceeng.com, give them a call, they know alot about the technical aspects, of clearance, and what compression you will run with certain setups.

ITR pistons w/b16 head will be about 11.5:1
CTR pistons w/b16 head will be abuot 12:1
LS rods are very strong. Their weak point is the rod bolt. Replace the stock bolts with ARP bolts, have the rocepricating mass (flywheel, cranc, rods, pistons, crang pully) balenced, and get a block girdle. You will be good to 9,000 RPMs easy.
