my fidanza didnt. I made my own.

what year is your car? if you are 96+, you cannot reset the timing. It is controlled by the ecu.

My Clutchmasters did. But it was hard to read, so I used Whiteout and a Red permanent marker to mark TDC and 16 degrees BTDC.

so on a 5th gen, it doesnt matter how the distributor is sat - the ecu will fully compensate the timing?

So does mine. Why would anyone ever make a flywheel with which you couldn't set ignition timing? If they make a timing mark they're going to make a TDC mark, it only makes sense.

Blake I'm not sure what you mean by that, base timing always needs to be set, even on my 96.

on OBDII motors, the distributor is locked. It cannot be adjusted. So as long as everything lines up on the cam gears and oil pump, the timing will be on. If its not, the ecu is bad.

I had to dremel my own TDC mark onto the flywheel and i painted it red.

strange.. my distributor isnt locked on a 1997 Type S which would be OBD2. I can definitely rotate it if I loosen the three dizzy bolts.

However, what you said makes sense with the manual saying the timing cannot be changed, sooo ionno unless it's a USDM thing?

Base timing is not adjustable on the 5Gen.

I know that the jdm dizzy is different. That could be why.

put Cylinder #1 to TDC then align the cam gears with the arrows pointing straight up and the lines on the gears aligned.

buy a service manual if you plan on working on your car.

turn the crank counterclockwise until the cam gear arrows are pointing straight up and the lines ont he cam gears line up. This means the Number1 piston is at TDC.

he's trying to set the cam gears straight.

there is a mark on your fidanza. i guarantee it. there is no reason some fidanza products would have a mark and some wouldnt.

wtF?

buy a damn manual. if you can't put the engine at TDC with the timing belt off you are going to have serious problems without one.

If you took took the head off to rebuild then then while it was off you should have turned the crank to #1 TDC and then marked it yourself, then its ready to go when you set the cams.
