92 Civic Lx wont start
One night i was driving home through a storm and went through id say a 1 foot puddle and my CAI sucked up some water... car killed i pulled over and got it to start back up but would die if i let off the gas and wouldn't go above 1000 rpms with the gas pedal fully down and in neutral. now its at home, my father and I drained the oil and changed the spark plugs still no go. So i went out and bought a new coil. Now the ground wire from the top smokes. Someone please help thanks.
yes its a ground wire it comes from one of the head bolts to the frame of the car... i took the wire off and now i can here something turn on sounds like the fan or something
it could be water locked. not sure how you fix that, but if it was alittle bit of water, i know you said 1 foot puddle but how much went through into your engine, most of it should evaporate before it goes into the rest of the engine, so if it is water locked ( hydro locked) there shouldnt be alot of water. good luck, hate to hear that happen
Question does it turn over when your trying to start it...other wise if not then your starting is trying to turn the motor but its just maken the wire cook like it is....if its not turning over...try turning it over by hand....
question... when i removed the distributer cap i noticed the plastic piece was in pieces and i never put another one in could that make it have no spark?

Now i replaced the coil, rotor, the plastic piece, and the cap in the distributer. The night it died from the water, i kept trying to start it and my grandpa said i could have fried something from it getting to hot, i dont know what to do anymore
