Vtec wont engage
I have a 92 honda civic dx with a d16z6. I put a p28 in but it wouldnt run the vtec. I figured it was an oil problem so i bypassed the oil press sw, and ran a toggle to the vtec solenoid to give it direct power, but it still wont kick in. does anyone have a vtec wiring diagram so i can see if i gave the right wires power.
1) How do you know VTEC isn't engaging?
2) Dumbass question: you wired the VTEC solenoid to the ECU after the swap, right?
3) The oil pressure sensor is there for a reason; don't bypass it permanently.

Well i cant hear the vtec working. When i swapped the motor in the vtec was already wired up for it. And im not trying to bypass the oil press sw permanetly, just to see if that was the problem why it wasent working, cause my car burns alot of oil cause of the rings.
The VTEC crossover should be very subtle for a d16z6. You shouldn't be able to feel the crossover, and the change in sound is barely noticeable.
Honestly, if you're burning a lot of oil, VTEC engagement should be the least of your problems...

if he has it on a toggle switch a CEL wont cause it to not work
vtec on a SOHC is barely audible. just assume its working. you wont notice much of a difference.
