Default Car won't start after minime, HELP~!!

Recently done a Mini-me (Z6/B7) with Auto/manual swap on a 92 Honda Civic DX. Transmission swap was fine, but head swap is giving me some problems. I believe it is timing.

Here's what has been done: I have a VX timing belt, Y7 cam gear to correct timing. I also got new spark plugs/wires. I replaced starter even though there was nothing wrong.

The dizzy's position may be off. I don't know if the bolts bolt up closer/further/in the middle. Also, my firing order might be off, searching right now to see if it's right.

Details: When I try to crank it, all I hear is the starter whining (I think). I double checked my grounds but about to triple check. It HAS fired up before but very very crappy like and wouldn't go pass 4k. Also had to give it some gas to keep it idle. that's why I think it's timing. We've taken off the head 3 times and nothing seems to be visually damaged to the extreme. Any suggestions?

(Posted in Engine Tech forums too; I need this thing running soon.)

So it just turns over and won't start? You said your firing order might be off. Check that. It should be
13
24
if you are standing by the passenger side fender and facing the dizzy.

Cylinder 1 on the head is the one nearest the cam gear. So looking at the engine standing in front of it cylinder should be #4 #3 #2 #1.

For your timing make sure the the crank is at TDC with the cam gear "UP" mark facing up of course. Advancing and retrading the dizzy position shouldn't affect the engine from starting. Unless it 180 degree off.

Yea, that might be it. I got the wires like this:

3 4
2 1

|(4) (3) (2) (1)|

With 3 & 4 being the flat part of the dizzy, facing forward. But your saying it should be:

3 4
1 2

4 3 2 1

correct?

Not sure what you meant but here are some picture. Took it off from d-series.org.

See this picture. This is the right firing order. 1,3,4,2. When motor is TDC the dizzy rotor should be facing cylinder 1.

And here is the cylinder from the head. [ (4) (3) (2) (1)]

Now just match the spark plug wires from dizzy 1,3,4,2 to the head cylinder 4,3,2,1.

Would there be any other problems other than this to cause it not to start?

Yeah, if you dizzy is 180 degree off. Meaning that at TDC you dizzy rotor is on cylinnder 4 instead on cylinder 1 on the dizzy. Happen to me a few years ago and took me 3 long months to figure it out.

Put the motor back at TDC and take off the dizzy cap. The dizzy rotor should be on firing order #1 at TDC to start with.

So the metal piece should be on 1? How does that mess up in the first place?

^^ I could happen when you or previous owner of the head took the dizzy out and put it back in with it 180 degree off. Just because the dizzy was put back into the head doesn't always mean it's in the right mark. It's a hit or miss thing you can say.
