Default main cap bearing readings help....

okay, I just plastiguage my D16z6 main cap, using new ACL standard bearings. The reading came out....0.002 on all of them. Helms says no. 1 and 5 journals should be at .0007-.0014 in. while no. 2, 3, and 4 journals be at .0009-.0017 in. Is my measurement too loose? This is for all stock daily driven d16z6.

Also, this is my first time using plastigauge...it kinda stretched when I tried getting it off the paper onto the crank mains. Here some random pics....

I would run that no problem. If you are only going to plastigauge instead of using bore gauges, I would do the plastigauge process at least once more, ideally twice more, this way you help eliminate variables --like old plastigauge which is pretty common and throws the readings way off!!

0.0020" on the mains is a tad loose, I would shoot for 0.0018"--but I have run 0.0020" before no problems, just lower oil pressure at idle that what I have now.

It was around 16-17 psi hot idle with 0.0020", now with 0.0015-0.0017 it doesn't go below 25-27 hot idle. Otherwise I had no issues whatsoever.

Also, I don't know a single educated person who would use or recommend 0.0009" on a non-stock Honda motor--either for mains or rods. Most guys shoot for 0.0015 all the way across on the mains, some use more and have zero issues.

I like it a bit looser than too tight.

You should be fine. I would go with that.

yeah, I'm just worried that it would be too loose. I was hope'n to get .0015, but getting .002 just worries me.

I'll plastigauge it once more just to make sure. .002 should be okay for me when I drive hard sometimes right?

You have backwards, the harder you drive the more Cl. more oil volume, more heat removed.
