Autopower Rollbar doesn't fit!! Any ideas why?
Hello everyone~
I recently purchased an Autopower roll bar from Dave Turner Motorsports. After stripping the hatch interior, as well as removing both seats, I came to the conclusion that the bar doesn't FIT.
The two legs which extend to the wheel wells are too long. I don't know what to do! This is really annoying me...I expected an easy bolt-in bar, and was dissapointed.
Advice, guys?

I am assuming that it is a bolt-in and that you have the correct part number. My understanding is that the Autopower bar bolts to the forward down facing side of the wheel arch in some models. Other cars they bolt to the floor pan beside or behind the wheelwell.
Verify that you have the right kit and remember that the main hoop mounting plates should be close to the point where the floor pan make a 90 degree upturn behind the front seats.

<<bolts to the forward down facing side of the wheel arch in some models. >> You mean the part closest to the seats?

What brought you to the conclusion that the bars are too long? And how "too long" are they...1 inch, 3 feet?
Also, a picture is worth a thousand words.
You can notice that in this picture the leg doesn't hit the wheel well at the right angle.
The leg can't really be bolted all the way back behind the seats because when it is pushed back that far, the leg is like, 5 inches too long.
Another, "man, this sucks" picture.
This is really annoying me! I don't know what's going on!
its a guess but maybe they gave you one for a 88-91 civic hb. that would explaing it be taller and longer right? or maybe just completely different one. check the part number.

Yeah, because Autopower sucks!
I do think that you got the wong bar for your car.
I have installed a couple and both were a VERY tight fit.
we even had to cut into the door panels so that the doors could close.
Re-check the part number.

it'll fit... here's what to do...
Remove the carpet to expose the metal (this will give ya some more room to work with...
Remove the rear legs...
Now, push the main hoop towards the rear of the car until you can't push it any further (ie, should hit the little "hump" behind the seats").
Then, put the rear legs next to where they attach to the main hoop... does it look like they'll fit? If not, then it's the wrong bar...
If so, pull the TOP of the main hoop out a little... then LIGHTLY hammer in the rear legs... you'll have to hammer at the feet a bit to make sure it goes on correctly...if you want pics of my rollbar, let me know, i can provide...

I talked to Dave Turner today, and THEY SENT ME THE 91 CIVIC BAR!
So, they're going to replace it for no charge, but it's going to cost me a tastey 5-6 weeks. Oh well, at least I didn't chop anything up yet.
Thanks for all your help guys.
