if the water pumps bad the car will start overheating and such. maybe even leak some coolant here and there. and check the timing belt for cracks and wear...thats when you know its bad

Don't put off doing your timing belt, if it snaps you will have some large repair bills coming your way.

anyone know when the timing belt should be changed? because I have 150k miles on my car and I have paperwork from the 1st owner and they changed the timing belt at roughly 97k miles and when I took my valve cover off today my timing belt looked like it was in good shape... I was thinking of replacing it but now I dont think im going to when it looks almost new.

Yeah just check for wear on the timing belt and for the water pump watch for overheating or look for leaking from the weep hole on the water pump.
