h22 turbo project- need some input
alright guys, i come to this forum when i need answers but just became a member so i can ask the specific questions i need answered, (so please bear with me and be nice)
anyway i have a 92 lude with a jdm rhd conversion. it has firewall swaped, new heater a/c stuff under dash fully functioning gas door/trunk release hood release all jdm interior (leather) minus front seats wich are rsx type s. i also swaped in a 97 glass sunroof wich goes in real easy if anyone wanted to know. everythng done right no shortcuts taken. i did all the work myself including a new left side quarter panel, fenders, doors and oem bumpers. i have finished up the show and am now working on the go.
i want this car to be able to have a less aggressive tune for the street but be able to really pump it up at the track after i drive it there. i hope to be over 400 whp on full boost but the more the better. i would really love to have a 4cyl. corvett killer.
i have already purchased and put together:
h22a4 block and head
Darton MID sleeve kit installed and bored 2mm over at darton in Indiana
Crower Pro-Billet I-beams
Wiesco 2mm oversized 8.5:1 pistons
stock cranck ballenced and pollished
new bearings all around
i think my builder used a ballance shaft eliminator kit (wouldn't mind finding out more about what that does for me)
arp head and main studs
cometic head gaskit
port and polish on head
crower 1mm oversize intake and exhaust valves
crower springs and crower Ti retainers
crower turbo stage 2 cams
str cam gears with greddy timing belt
aem lightened flywheel with act 4 puck
stock 5 speed trans with Kaaz lsd and new final drive
AEM EMS w/UEGO and GM MAP
obviously i want to boost this thing as much as possible but not blow it up right away and **** away all the $$$ i spent.
i need suggestions on:
what turbo to use (i am looking at a cheap lightly used Garrett GT35r- too much?)
where to get good axles
motor mount kit- y or n where to get?
what type of turbo manifold do i want (wouldn't mind keeping A/C, need power steering)
what size injectors
what size intercoller and can i get black anadized
good place to go for a good EMS tune between Chicago and Omaha
where to get good price on manifolds, downpipes, intercoolers and piping- i work in a shop that has a TIG welder but no pipe bender - i would have to outsource
anything else you think i need to know
thanks a lot guys. there are a lot of people on here that seem to have a lot of good info to draw from. i hope you all can point me in the right direction on this stuff.

thanks for the links. i have read thru it and it seems like i'm on the right path so far but i really need to make a decision on which turbo to use. i need to move on this gt35r or i will miss it and if i decide to go another route i would like start getting stuff ordered. if you or anyone else knows anything about a gt30 vs gt35 on a built h22 please let me know.
at what RPM do you want the power to start? I'm running 89 mm pistons on my h22 as well and they can really spool turbos. Right now i'm using a T72 and full boost still comes at 5500 RPM. I Think you can go with a big turbo unless you want power early. In Jeff evans forums though he tuned an H22 with a Gt35 and he said the turbo small for the motor.
here's a pic of the turbo.

to be honest i'm not sure. this is the first motor i've ever put a turbo on. i don't know a lot about differant turbos, what there specs are or how that will affect my build. i know that i will spend most of my time behind the wheel on the street. i will be taking it to the track but probably only a few times a year. i want something that will be duarable and reliable but still be able to blow the doors off anyhting else around here. i do not want to put a turbo on that is not taking full advantage of the other mods i have made and i do not want to change to a biggoer(or smaller) turbo down the road. i want to try to get this right the first time.
yeah i know people using those turbos on 2.0 wrx's and they arent that big, so for a 2.2 you need bigger! PM Greg H on here and ask what he has, hes running E85 gas but puts 528 to the wheels on 15 psi, but can't remember his turbo right now. His old one made 518 on 18 psi, and it was a 60-1.

i currently am running a PT-67 which is a great turbo. and the 60-1 i had before that was amazing too. i would recomemed either one. either one will make big power. you can get the 60-1 brand new for around 700 bucks. and make high 600's out of it.
alright. i am getting some conflicting reports so i need input from anyone reading.
what is in your opinion the best turbo for a built/sleeved 8.5:1 h22?
garrett? turbonetics? precision? greddy?
t3,t4,t04e,gt28,gt30,gt35gt71,pt-67
what does "trim" mean and what spec works well for me
what is A/R and again what numbers am i looking for
what is your reason for choosing that turbo?
i have ran across the 60-1 spec a couple of times, what does this refer to? (i don't know very much at all about turbos that is why i'm asking)
what are the differances and advantages of each option

A gt35r will make more than a 60-1 @ the same psi. Correct me if im wrong but isnt the 60-1 journal? I think the 60-1 and the 35r are comparable but the 35 will spool faster and make more power.

correct on spooling faster, but very little difference there. maybe 200-300 rpm faster. as far as making more power, no. i have seen H series on 60-1 make over 700 whp!! and over 600 ft. tq! and for a way cheaper price.
I like both turbo's, but the 60-1 is my personal choice out of the two. i ran a turbonetics T4 60-1, .67 AR and dont have a single complaint

Yea the 35R is almost twice the price of the 60-1. I thought it would spool like 500rpms faster than the 60. Now you got me thinkn about the 60-1 again lol. I was looking at Garrets 60-1. Did you make your 500whp with the .63 a/r?

I had a turbonetics 60-1. but im sure they are the exact same. my buddy is running a pt-61 from precision. and it is a great turbo as well. also around 700 bucks. i recomended it to him and he loves it!
what kind of power you looking to make?

Im looking for 400whp. I am working on my second build right now. Currently on a Greddy kit but the oil seal is gone on the 18G. So instead of rebuilding it I am changing my setup all together. When were you "fully" spooled with the 60-1? You also used E85 to get your 500whp @ 14psi... any reason why?
