I have a turbo ls vtec and i have been having a hard time looking for the correct MSD distributer cap. i dont know what motor the distributer came off of. The Markings on the distributer say TD-68U 4723. Ive tried a msd distributer cap that is for a GSR but it didnt fit. Can anyone tell me what part number cap i should use and what motor my distributer is off of?

The correct cap for a TD68U distributer is MSD part# 82933

I had the same problem couldnt find one. So i just used the cap i had and only put 2 bolts in it car runs fine

 

ya but i paid $32 for a cap and rotor kit and i want to return it and get the right one i need. does anyone know?

 

i was under the impression that the td-44u and td-68u were interchangeable and would work on any obd1 b16 or gsr. since you've tried the gsr maybe look into a b16 cap.

edit: i just referenced part# from an obd1 b16 and obd1 gsr and the cap doesnt match so maybe thats why you had problems with the gsr cap.

are you using an msd cap on an oem dizzy? if so why not just use an oem cap.

im using an external coil thats why i need the msd distributer cap. the gsr cap was almost the same as the sohc civic cap and it was exactly the same as the integra ls cap.

im using a factory distributer.

anyone else know what the part number i need is? and from what car?

 

I am using a external coil too. Also the same dizzy. I tried a gsr,b16, and ls none worked for me. I to bolted the gsr one and car runs perfect

 

the gsr one is to small. ya im sure i can get 2 bolts to fit but i need the right one. this is going to be on a car thats going to make over 500whp. i dont want to ghetto rig it.

lol im going to take my distributer some where and try on all the caps i need to try.

 

i did a google search and most places said that TD-68U 4723 was a JDM b16/b18c distributer.

 

yeah rywire.com said jdm as well but i figured that wouldnt matter.

 

im going to take the distributer to a local shop tomorow so i can figure out which is the right cap.

 

the correct msd cap is part #82933 its for a gsr.its a td68U distributer. finally i have the right cap.
