Default Question: LS swap into GSR shell

I'll be pulling my LS motor from my wrecked car tomorrow and have a few questions..

Will the swap fit right into the gsr shell? Or will I have to move things from the LS to the GSR shell?

I won't have to transfer things such as A/C or A/C lines or any of those parts right? Will the GSR's (stuff?) fit right onto/with the LS?

Also will the LS axles work with the GSR brakes?

And are there other complications with putting an LS into GSR shell? Thanks..

the ls motor will go right into the gsr shell. the ls axles will work fine with the gsr brakes. a/c lines will be fine as well

Besides using the LS throttle cable and bracket, might want to use LS heater outlet hose (#10) for a better fit (don't know if gsr one will even reach).

This is a 5spd to 5spd swap not an auto to 5spd swap, right?
Shouldn't be too hard, GL.

I am in the process of this exact swap. I have a 98 GSR shell, 98 LS engine, and a 97 LS parts car. I just pulled the motor on the 97 LS parts car this morning, and it is very close to the GSR I have with no engine in it. However, I did notice that the ABS control unit is different in the 97 to GSR, but that is a function of the car, not the engine so I should be good. I have not put the 98 LS engine into the GSR but I have looked into this and it should line right up - all mounts and connectors, I believe there is just a difference with 2 vtec wires that the LS engine wont have. I an hoping the LS ECU will run the GSR chassis. This is a popular swap because a lot of thieves are hot for the GSR engine, while people like us who have to pay for **** buy the LS engine...lol...but good for boost which is where I'm heading. Keep this updated I liked to know who it goes

the abs pump is different between 94-97 and 98-01. i finished a 99 ls into a 98 gsr swap recently and threw code 54 the one time i started the car. i'm not sure if the code is from the wiring or from the accident; the engine is out of a car that had pretty bad front end damage. car's parked right now and won't be started again for a few weeks. let me know what codes (if any) you guys throw after.

ya will work out fine may have a few minor issues as stated before such as hoses and throttle cable ..ls ecu will work fine if it is the right one for the car, 92-95 obd1 96+obd2 as long as the ls and gsr are within the same system it will work just fine with no codes!!!

x2. depending on where you live, age, and other factors, the difference between ls vs gsr insurance can be huge

you cant chip the ls ecu for vtec. just find a p28 or a p72 they are not exspensive at all. i take it your car is obd1?? and as for the wiring you could use the ls harness and pin it with wires from the ecu to your vtec sylinoid and knock sensor etc.

in my friend's case at least the LS motor is temporary. he bought a 95 GSR shell with literally everything except motor and trans and just needs to get the car on the road. the high comp built H22A is going in in March/April.

Misinformation.

You can convert any P06/PR4 to run the same as a P28/P30 save for the fact none of these will run IABs.
