Default Still smoking, WHY!!!???

So I had my motor (GSR) re-built a few months ago, since it was smoking like a bitch. New bearings, seals, bore, hone, .25 over P30's, ARP rod bolts, head studs, yada ya...

Anyways, it was broken in on the dyno, figured everything would be cool. Drove it around and noticed it was losing oil and smoking again. I brought it back to the shop, they tried telling me it was my head, figured fine, send it to the machine shop. It comes back from the machine shop, had new valve guides put in, and a clean bill of health. New head goes back on, still smoking... Now I'm starting to get irritated, take it back to the shop and they give it a fresh hone and new rings. Guess what? It still smokes like a bitch!

So what's the deal??? I don't get it.

What type of breather system are you using? Stock PCV? Have you checked or changed your PCV valve? How may miles do you drive a week?

Yea, did a compression check. 245 across, no leakdown yet.

Stock PCV, the PCV is brand new too. I drive anywhere from 300-400 miles a week.

Sounds to me like the oil rings aren't sealing. Not too sure about this though.

how about the valve seals? they can be put on incorrectly and will make it smoke. remember white spring on intake side black on the exhaust.

Broke it in on the Dyno, Motoman style.

Nope, valve seals are perfect.

I just don't understand why the oil rings wouldn't seal...

Sounds like you have a shitty machine shop! I work @ my friends machine shop(body shop portion) and you would be amazed @ how much **** he has to redo from other shops. He even has other shops send him their work...sleeving etc.
