so i'm trading my 96 ex for a dc2 with ls-vtec how can i check if the motor is good or should i just take it to a mechanic shop so they can check it out

 

a cylinder compression and oil compression check would tell you a bit about it's condition. take the valve cover off and see if the head is scorched with burnt oil. if you don't know how to do any of this then take it to a mechanic.
