I noticed the other day that when i turn on the wipers, there's a delay of about 3 secs. before it begins to sweep. I've check the other speeds; int, low, med, fast, and they all work.
when the wipers begin the sweep, there's an odd *click* noise coming from the fuse panel.

lastly, when i turn the washer nozzles on, they spray the fluid, but the wipers dont move. this has to all relate to a faulty switch? relay?

does anyone have the fix for this issue?

What year? There's a TSB for the 1998 Civics. The return switch in the wiper motor breaks and the motor has to be replaced.

Since the washer function doesn't make the wipers work either though, it might be something else.

The issues are either going to be:
- wiper motor
- switch (combination switch stalk)
- integrated control unit behind the fuse box

Check the switch if you can. It's the easiest of the three to get to.

 

I had the same problem with mine and it is the with on the steering column. Both headlight switch and my wiper switch went bad. I bet if u mess with the switch it will work then other times it wouln't. Just take the steering column apart and replaced the switches. It might sound complicated but the hardest part is getting the steering wheel off. Those big *** torques head screws are like a T30 / T35.

My CX sort of had the same issues, but I didn't have the intermittent option on my car, (CX doesn't have that option), but I sometimes had to give the wiper a kickstart by manually flipping the wiper lever down once, but after awhile I just always used the manual mode. The stock 2-speed wipers are too fast in my opinion, and I really appreciate having intermittent wipers now, in my other cars!

i might have a spare wiper switch off a 94+ integra. would that possibly work on the civics?

I hope you're talking about a 5th gen (which still wouldn't make sense)...
