OBD1/OBD2 Differences
Hey guys, I posted this in the EK forum, then I thought about it, and decided this is probably the place to ask my questions, lol.
I'm relatively new to the Honda scene, i'm building a touring car for SCCA racing.
Its a Silver '96 CX Hatch. I have an OBD1 H23 motor that I was planning on using. I was wondering, what were the differences between OBD1 and OBD2 H series motors.
What did they change from 95 to 96? Knock sensors? O2 sensors? Crank position sensors?
Any help is appreciated!

i surely hope that you are not depending on this thread to build your car. All the information you need can be found by clicking the red search icon in the top right of your screen.
distributors and oil pumps are different.
CKP and CYP sensors are both in the distributor for OBDI motors
however,
on OBDII engines, the CKP sensor is located on the oil pump and the CYP in the distributor.

No I just have a few basic questions about these motors, as i'm unfamilliar with them.
I doubt you will ever hear from me again in a few days.

Ok, i've been looking for hours for information and i'm struggling to find much on the 'net.
Can I just change the OBD1 distributor and oil pump over to OBD2 parts and run it like that?
Are those the only differences?

ok do you have the h23 computer? if so use that and go on the Skunk 2 web site and get a conversion harness from obd1 to obd2....so you wont have to change anything. if your planning on using your obd2 stock cx hatch witch would be a p2p ...it can't be chipped...in other words you cant use your stock ECU so find a computer that will go with your wirering harness (stock) ....don't know if that the info you want but its the easyest way man

yes. the easiest way for you to do this swap is to use the obd2 oil pump sensors and distributor. I did a swap into a 96 lude and did it the other way around, wiring the sensors to the jdm obd1 distributor, it works, but the other method is easier.

I did this in my 5th Gen, but I keep getting misfire codes. Did you have the same problem mgags7? I usually miss at 4000 rpms.

yes I do. The car isn't actually misfiring, but the codes flash. That really sucks I was hoping it was something I could fix without having to switch to the other setup. expletive.
There is a local guy that wants to buy my car but he won't until I get rid of the CEL for that.....dammmmmmiitttt
