90 dx making really wierd noise
I got a 1990 Civic dx hatch all stock. it ran good after i cleaned the battery and i only noticed one thing. when i reversed it made a wierd grinding noise, but all other gears it sounded fine. today i backed out the mall and it kept doing that noise, but when i shift and accelerate it sounds normal but if i let off the gas it does it again, or when im idling you can hear and feel it.
SOMEONE PLEASE HELPP
thanks!

no it does it all the time, but it only used to do it in reverse, so ithought it might be the tranny, or something in between the tranny and engine, like flywheel or pessure plate or something like that.. the engine sounds normal when i give it gas its like it snaps out of it or something, but if i let the pedal off it goes back to it... please helllp
i never said it was anythin to do with the battery.. it once had a dead battery, and i got it running. hahaha, now it grinds hella bad, and it also feels like the tranny movs around when i shift it, i can feel it moving through the shifter!
this is happening with a friend of mine with a 240 kinda, it grinds into a few gears and when he hits the clutch and leaves it in gear it'll grind the hell out of it...i believe his problem is a cracked pressure plate, just a suggestion, not a solution

can you explain this grinding noise some more. you are saying it goes into reverse ok but when you start moving its grinding? are you sure its all the way in gear? also maybe you are mixing up a whine with a grind. Reverse gears in older hondas are straight cut and often have a loud whine to them.
if you started doing it in forward gears you might want to check your trans fluid, maybe it is low, and in turn your bearings are falling apart.

well, i had a honda genius look at my hatch, and low and behold it is a broken trnny mount! not that it took a genius to figure it out but it was something i overlooked... i didnt notice the left side of the engine sittin way lower than the right!, 3 inches lower!!! so i purchased a d15b and 4 speed tranny and all mountsfrom buddy for 50 bucks!!! so if any of you need a d banger that runs ill be able to sell it.. im cleaning it up as it is dirty as a cows *******...
