Upgraded software or no?
I am building a d16 motor for road racing. I know, a b-series is better but i don't have the money to do it properly so that is that. Anyway i am having all the machine work done for free as i work at a Carquest with a machine shop. The plan is to use my Y7 block, et a Y8 head and the complete engine harness out of an ex, by the way I have a 2000 hatch. I have been doing as much resarch as a can but the mfg websites don't help. I want to go with a Crower stage 2 cam and an Edelbrock performer x intake manifold, along with the usual like header, exhaust, cai. i can get a computer out of a 00 Si and an apexi v tech controller if i find out that will be enough. my question if with those modifications am going to have to do any additional ecu modification to make sure my engine runs like a champ. thanks to all you experienced guys out there for your input.
The 00SI ecu isnt going to help you. Best thing to do if you plan on building would be getting an obd1 jumper and chipped ecu, then going to the dyno. If you want to stay obd2 then run the P2P (EX) ecu and the VAFC and tune.
