Wheel Stud replacement - 2000 Honda Civic EX
I need to replace the wheel studs on the front left.
I have removed the Rotor and the Axil Nut (forgot correct name). What needs to be done to remove the Hub from the knuckle? Would i be better off having it done by someone else?

if your going to do it better just install some arp long studs.
Its simple but still hard at some times.
you have to have the rotor off and the axle out of the hub.
Next you get a rental slide hammer from autozone or another auto parts store that rents out. hook it onto the hub using the studs you have left and slide hammer it out.
next get to peices of wood and place the shaft part of the hub between them so the you can hammer out the rest of the studs. do the same to install you can also spot weld the back of the stud to the hub for extra security
then take out the upper A arm and take that along with the hub to your local mechanic so that he can install it with a new wheel bearing for no more than 10 bucks each.
remember you have to get a new wheel bearing cause when you remove the hub you have to also bang out the old bearing since it would no longer be good.
if I forgot anything just pm me. kinda in rush to get out of work.

There's a much easier way to do it with stock studs. Use a cut off wheel and cut the old stud flush with the hub and punch it out. Take the new stud and grind one edge of the head so it's flat. Then put use something to lubricate the threads and you should be able to just slip it in. The stud isn't going anywhere.
Hmm, i kinda like the idea from Ed9man.
Thanks for the replys! After realizing how much time it is going to take in either route, i decided to have a mechanic work on the car. (its my only ride). And to think all this started out as changing the brakes. Bastard tire ppl!

After I broke about 4 studs in a year, I started using antiseize and a torque wrench any time I get anywhere near my lugs. Haven't broken one since. The backs aren't so bad, but the fronts are a bitch.
Sometimes you can press the hub back into the bearing. I've done it before. I wouldn't advise it though.
