Default The Temperature Gauge Needle

I have a question regarding the temperature gauge needle. I'm driving my aunt's 1999 Accord 4 cylinders.

The temperature gauge needle stay in the middle or slightly below the middle when the engine is fully warmed up but when I'm on the highway, as I speed up, the needle could go down to C slowly. The needle could go back up to normal as I slow down.

What could cause this problem?

Any advice or input would be really appreciated. Thanks a lot

Sounds like the thermostat is sticking open - sometimes. I'd get a new one.
