Default Temperature gauge issue...

I have a 95 accord 2.2 non-vtec. I have replaced the entire cooling system and bled all the air out, and yet the temperature gauge wont go past 1/4 temp... is this normal?

My temp gauge does the same thing, didnt start doing this until i had blown the top of my stock radiator about a 2 years ago and replaced it with an aftermarket aluminum one. Wondering if maybe the engine getting hot caused the gauge to misread? it went up to 215* before i was able to get it stopped.

Anyone else wanna shed light on this?

Normal engine temperature is gonna be in the low 200's... on my civic the temp gauge is normally at the half way point.... Im trying to figure out if 1/4 temp gauge on my accord is normal or if i have air in the system...

Myabe the Thermostat is stuck open. Does the needle usually stay down there when you're only driving or does it do that too when you're at a stand still idling?

Are you sure it's not 1/3rd ? On a honda it usually doesn't go above 1/3rd. On the only toyota I had it was 1/2.

It should be around 1/4th to 1/3rd of the way up around. Not at the halfway mark.

The temp gauge on every Toyota I've owned or driven acts the same...never going to the 1/2 mark; they usually max out at the 8:00 position (gauge on left.)

My S2000 doesn't go to halfway (roughly 2 bars before half)
My Pilot doesn't go to halfway (roughly 3/4's to half)

The halfway marker is simply that, halfway between H and C. On some vehicles that marker may be halfway up the gauge but may be representing a lower temperature. The Accord does not do that. Other vehicles may be completely scaled differently and the H to C range is set from 0 to 100 with optimal temp being 50 (so halfway) others may be 20-100 with optimal temp being 50 (not halfway). Obviously those are just examples and not indicative of the actual temperatures.

......why?

If the temp gauge on my 95 got to halfway.....I'd freek and pull over.

Or do you have some issues besides the temp gauge not going to the same place as your "any other car"?
