Default Transmission fluid question

is there a certain tranny fluid that is best for hondas or H22's or does it really matter? also my 5th gear grinds like crazy a lot of the time and occasionaly wont even go in unless i work with it, do yall think it could be the cause of bad transmission fluid?

What worked really well for me was 1.7 quarts new Honda MTF, and .3 quarts of regular Pennzoil Synchromesh (not the expensive, friction modified GM stuff). So far that's given me better results than 2 quarts friction modified Synchromesh, 2 quarts old MTF, and 2 quarts new MTF

im kinda having the same problem...mine grinds a little into 3rd gear...i was thinking maybe it was a bad synchro, so im going to get that looked at soon, and im also going to change the mtf, and hopefully that'll fix it...so you might want to check the synchro...

unfortunately, checking a syncro isn't exactly a simple manuever.

The 5th gear grind is due to a manufacturing defect, the shift forks are slightly bent in those transmissions, causing that grind. Honda did a recall on them a long time ago.

Will they still honor the shift fork recall when, you had them replaced once already?

I currently have a 3rd gear grind. I have to granny shift like no other going into this gear.

As for the 5th gear grind, it is not as bad as the 3rd, but it happens occasionally.

My current tranny fluid is the pennzoil synchromesh. I wanna try the new honda mtf and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks guys.
